It started Thursday night with a little diarrhea, no blood. Same on Friday, more diarrhea but no blood. I called the vet and asked if I could pick up any medicine for her on my way home from work and they said they could give me probiotics to sprinkle on her food to help with gut health so I picked that up. I couldn’t bring them a sample of her stool since I was at work. I’ve been giving her chicken and rice instead of her regular food and she’s been scarfing it down so she still has an appetite. Then Saturday(yesterday) evening I found a lot of diarrhea with a lot of blood in it so now I’m getting worried. Overnight I found a total of 12 spots where she had bloody diarrhea so it’s getting so much worse. She was shaking a bit but I don’t know if that’s because she was cold from going outside (it’s 21 F here) or if she’s scared or maybe she has a fever. She’s still very alert and watches me as I move around the kitchen. I’m keeping her hydrated. I’m going to take her to the vet tomorrow(closed today) but what can I do today to keep her comfortable and what do you think is going on? Stomach bug maybe? How can I help her?
Update:Thanks for answering everyone. I ended up taking her to the animal hospital as recommended and guess what.... turns out to be nothing but a little stomach bug. No bacteria present in her stool. I'm glad nothing serious was wrong, but mad that there's a couple hundred bucks down the drain on lab tests :( At least she's OK.

There other things you've mentioned don't really matter right now. The problem is that she has really bad diarrhea, along with blood.
She's going to get dehydrated, and no one knows what it is, since we aren't vets. Shaking could be from pain, or blood loss.
You ought to get her to an emergency vet so she can be treated. I'm surprised the vet tried anything, at all, without seeing the dog.
Emergency Vets are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including weekends and holidays. You need to get off your computer, call your regular vets office and they leave the name and phone number of the Emergency Vet they use, that you can take your dog to. This cannot wait until tomorrow. Vomiting blood or pooping blood are Big Red Flags and your Papillon needs to be seen IMMEDIATELY. If your dog has had this problem for 3 days, then she is really Dehyrated and that alone can kill her, if she is not Re-Hydrated fast enough. Don't take any risky chances.
Any time there is blood in a stool or diarrhea with blood you run to a Vet.
Is the blood red or black?
