You have no obligation to show up.
You have not been summoned to court. The landlord has been summoned. You should be worried about eviction.
You have to respond or be found in contempt of court.
Yes, you should. The notice came in your landlord’s name because he is the listed property owner. Remove the car, show up in court. Otherwise, the landlord will sue you.
Is it your car? Do you have anything to do with it being there?
If either of those answers is YES, you need to REMOVE the vehicle ASAP.
If both answers are no, you should have forwarded the notice to your landlord IMMEDIATELY.
I can’t make the court date
In the eyes of the law, that is ONLY true if you are confined to a hospital bed or dead. Even if you are confined to a jail cell, you can appear in court.
Get the car off the property.
Send proof to the courts and no one has to worry about wasting their time in court.
Yes, worry about it. If it lands on your landlord, they will make sure that it lands on you too.
Do you really want to pissoff your landlord?
If it is your piece of junk out there than you better be worried, reschedule the date or at least have your mother do it for you.
