I live in VA and I’ll be 18 soon and I’m trying to get my license. I either have to get my permit and hold it for 60 days once I’m 18 or show that I completed a state approved driver’s education program so I don’t have to hold my permit for 60 days. I took driver’s ed in high school as a class, does that count? And yes, I did call DMV, they take the longest to answer. 😒

If you have already graduated from high school, the DMV will pretty much know that you have taken the mandatory class. They may require you to go to the high school and get something called a "green card" to take with you. Otherwise, you can go to the DMV, take the test for your learner's first, then wait so many days and go back to take the driving part.
If you need your license quicker, you could sign up (after you take your written test) with a driving school and they can issue the license as well as train you.
Much success to you and drive safely!
