helpppp
its saying if your trying to help someone else solve it
SIMPLE VERSION:
Multiply into parentheses.
4-x-2 = 6-5x-20
Add like terms.
2-x = -14-5x
Get X on the left side and everything else on the right side.
4x = -16
Divide by the number in front of X
x = -4
IN DEPTH VERSION
First you have to get rid of all of the parentheses. So multiply everything inside of the Parentheses by what is immediately on the outside of it.
For the first you would get:
-1 * (x+2)
or
(-1*x) + (-1*2)
which is
-x-2
For the second set you would get:
-5 * (x+4)
(-5*x) + (-5*4)
-5x-20
Right now, your equation looks like this:
4-x-2=6-5x-20
Your next step would be to add like terms on each side
So for the left side you would get:
(4 + -2) -x
(4-2) -x
2-x
For the Right side you would get
(6-20) - 5x
-14 - 5x
Now, your equation looks like
2 - x = -14 - 5x
From here, get like terms on the same side. So to get the -5x from the right to the left, add 5x to both sides
2 - x (+5x) = -14 - 5x (+5x)
2 -x +5x= -14 -5x +5x
which equals
2 + 4x = -14
Then you need to get the 2 to the right side, so subtract each side by 2.
2 (-2) +4x = -14 (-2)
Divide each side by four, and you are left with
x= -4
First remove the brackets (making sure you solve any multiplications, negatives, etc)
Now you need to make it equal to 0. To do this, you need to subtract the same from both sides. That will make 1 side = 0
4 - x -2 -(6-5x-20) = 0
4-x-2-6 +30x +20 = 0
Solve it out by adding all the same terms together, eg 4-2-6+20
16 +29X=0
Solve? they didn't really teach us to solve, they just said name the formula used or something. Communative, associative, identity, inverse.
