I would say 56 studs @ 10ft the 2 extra feet would be for the noggins and 8 top and bottom plates @ 18 feet, because you might not be able to buy 16 footers. If you need double top plates add 4 more, if you need windows and doors in this room add 3 more studs for each. These 3 extra studs would be used a secondary studs, door headers and sill plates. The window headers will need to be of a dimension to cope with the opening size.
I would have generally rounded the studs to 60, but if you're adding windows and doors the lintel and sill jack can be cut out of fewer studs than I have stated, which might leave you with a couple of studs extra.
most city and county codes are the walls need to have 2 X 4's on 16" centers. Which means if you put your measuring tape in the center of one 2 X 4 the 16th inch should be in the center of the next 2 X 4, You should have two 2 X 4's at the end of each wall so every corner should have four 2 X 4's. You also need them on the top and bottom of every wall. If you put in windows you need to double reinforce the wall above and below the window or door. Have Fun!!
