√4x + 1 = -√4x + 1 with an answer of x = - 1/4! How though?

No one was able to get this right. I wrote the equation wrong, the answer is suppose to be a x = - 1/4

√4x + 1 = -√4x + 1

x= - 1/4th

But how? I know at some point the equation is going to have to look like

4x = - 1 or -4x = 1 but, I don't know the first steps. Can anyone help?

Update:

omg, I got it.

The negative before the square root means you have to change everything in the term, so it turns into -4t - 1

move your variables and numbers to opposite sides of the equasion and you get

8t = -2

simplify

t= - 1/4th
