I want to buy a new computer and an Alienware came up in Sale. It has 8 GB in RAM (I can add 16 if I want to), 3rd generation of intel Core i5-333.
Now, is i5 good enough for gaming?
Is 1.5 Gb NVIDIA GeForce good enough or I could get a 1GB to make it more affordable? Or should I get something more expensive?
I want to play games like The Sims 3, StarCraft II, and else. The only heavy game I've got my eyes on is Skyrim.
Thanks :)

many people think that if your getting a gaming pc you need an i7 and the best graphics card ever but you dont need that, i have a gaming pc with an i5 and 8gb ram and a radeon hd 7850 and i can run most games smoothly on the highest settings. and a gtx 660 is a bit better than my graphics card and it has physx so yes it is good
Dude you're sorta bottlenecking (seem it up) via getting that i7. such as you, as quickly as I first desperate i needed to create my very own laptop i had the physique of strategies that i actually mandatory an i7 or I wont have a stable equipment. it particularly is fake. in case you attempt to maintain funds then i do no longer propose the i7 in any respect, somewhat purely for gaming. An i7 would purely do you any stable in case you intend on using cpu in intensity classes like adobe after outcomes, sony vegas etc. An i5 (or in case you're on a smaller funds, an AMD card) will do you purely advantageous. different than that i'd purely propose changing the ram to 2x4GB by way of fact the 4x2GB will unquestionably be extremely slower. yet another tip to maintain funds, maximum motherboards presently contain a valid card equipped in, you're in no way particularly going to prefer the sound card till you intend on producing song or some thing else that evolves specially around audio. different than that i think of you're stable.
