I've been doing a little research here and there and some site comparisons on spec, and found that the Nikon d3200 seems to be quite a popular, and I've used a spec-comparison site that tells me this model is even better than some of the more expensive ones (though I know these sites don't take everything into account).
Now I'm no camera expert, and I've never owned a DSLR. I'll be mostly using it for printing quality A4 glossy photos (of people, landscapes and wildlife) to frame them and give to family as gifts. I've heard that higher MP (this one is very high at 24mp) cameras are good for maintaining photo quality at larger print sizes, so in case I ever wanted to print to larger sizes in the future could it be good for that?
Now I don't really know the camera market, so this D3200 is one of the few I have looked at, but it SEEMED to come out on top. Does anyone know of any slightly cheaper DSLRs that would perform just as well (or almost as well) as the D3200 for my requirements? Thanks

Any SLR that you can buy today will produce images that can be blown up. The real limitation is the skills of the photographer. Megapixels is not the metric of choice, as they all feature more megapixels than anyone could ever need. In truth, all you need is 8 megapixels for fine rendering of enlargements. The differences in image quality are far beyond the human eye's ability to discern. You need laboratory instruments to tell the difference between different models. So go into a camera store and hold the various choices in your hand. Pick the one that feels the most comfortable.
