What does it mean by “share your question by email”?
Every time we submit a question, we get the above tip to increase our chances of getting answers. I mean is it alright to email others regarding my questions?
You can share any Yahoo!Answers question that you find interesting with people who you think might be interested in providing an answer.
When you view a question, you will see the little envelop icon next to the word "Email" right below the details area. Simply click on "Email" and fill in the information. You must use their "real" email address ( [email protected] ). They will receive the Question in the form of a link/url which they can click on. You can also include a short message if you wish.
One time, I found a question that was very interesting and I knew an "expert" who could provide the best answer, so I sent him an eMail to ensure that he saw the question. He wasn't on-line at the time, so giving the question a Star would not have caught his attention.
“Share your question by email” is one way to ask other users to take a look at a question that you think they might find interesting. I receive these messages almost everyday.
Sometimes I find a question that is less than interesting. Sometimes I do find good questions that I would not have been aware of without the email.
Yahoo! Answers is a community. If this feature is not overused, it allows questions to be "advertised" to people who might give better than average answers and thus increase the quality of the site.
"Is it alright to email others regarding my questions?" Yes, but realize that if they get annoyed at a constant stream of so-so questions that they might email you and request that you stop this or they might just ignore your requests.
Hi, Sure it is alright. That is why the option is there.
I have never emailed my own questions, but I have shared other questions by others with the email option when I felt the question may be interesting to any of my contacts.
If you know somebody who may know the answer to that question, then you can email them the link to that question and that may increase your chances of getting a good answer to that question.
Yes it is alright to email others regarding your questions, like you emailed me the link to this question.
All it's saying is it increases your chance of getting your question answered so you email it to people sometimes it helps mostly they just put it there for a option but almost nobody actually uses it so just ignore it :) hope i helped
Sure. It is all right if you want to take the chance that you won 't get a bug or a phish attempt. Some of these, I recognize as legitimate. Most I don't. Personally, I would not take the chance.
Yes, the envelope icon under the question allows you to send a question, yours or someone else's, to your friends and increase the chances that they will answer. I've done it when I don't have any good answers.
When "Share your question by email" is clicked, it indeeed allows you to send your question to others. As far as if it's proper etiquette, I'd say it would be just fine to do so. If it wasn't, it wouldn't be on Y!A.

The option is there, but I personally don't like getting emails from people asking me to answer their question or to give them stars.
If I can answer the question and have my own view I may, but asking for a star is pushing their luck in my book.

If a Y!A member allows other members to e-mail or IM them, then I see no problem with sending your question along to others.
