1 / (1 - x²)?
Do you just multiply by -1? Doesn't that just make it - 1 / (x² - 1)?
They're not the same. You can't just multiply 1/(x^2 - 1) by -1. However, you can multiply by -1/-1 since it's a form of 1 and doesn't change anything.
1/(x^2 - 1) * (-1)/(-1) = -1/(1 - x^2)
