How do you solve the equation x² + 5x = 0?

I don't understand. Lol, and also if you could help find the x-intercepts of these problems as well.. :)

y = ( x - 2 )² + 3

y = -2 ( x + 8 )² - 3

i do know how to FOIL but i do not know how to apply it here.

x(x+5)=0 ==> either x=0 or x+5=0 ==>x=0 or x=-5 (2 answers)

( y-3)=(x-2)² ==> either +√(y-3)=x-2 ==>x=√(y-3) +2 or -√(y-3)=x-2 ==> x=-√(y-3) +2 (2 answers)

( x + 8 )²=( y + 3 ) / -2 ==> either +√-(( y + 3 ) / 2) =x + 8 ==> √-(( y + 3 ) / 2) - 8 = x

or -√-(( y + 3 ) / 2) =x + 8 ==> -√-(( y + 3 ) / 2) - 8 = x (2 answers)
