I've got a pair of black leather jungle boots which gives me alot of trouble for the "spit shine" to stay on it.The first time i used methylated spirit (mixed with water),the ordinary kiwi polish in the tin,and a cotton ball to shine it, and the results were beautiful.But...i realize when I go out into the sun with my boots.....after a few minutes, the sun fades the shine on it.....literally.Sooo........I stripped the polish off the boots with nail polish remover because I did not have rubbing alcohol. But this time instead of methylated spirit and water.....i used spit(along with the kiwi polish and a cotton ball) to buff the boots.Once again....the results were beautiful. The following day i stepped out into the sun and it did the same thing. So pleeease if there are any military buffing methods (secrets) that could WITHSTAND the sun...pleeeease help me.(real answers only)..........what am i doing wrong! (p.s........in other words......after about 15 minites in the sun.....the part that i shine turnes "foggy"......literally)

First of all strip your boots of any kind of chemicals you may have put on them. You can use shaving cream and a large soft scrubbing brush and scrub them until you get tired. Then let them dry. If you don't feel like doing all that then that's fine, it won't hurt to leave it out, but it would be better to somehow strip the boot to get it clean. What you want to do next is grab your Kiwi boot shine can. Take the lid off and fill it half with water. Then grab a soft cloth, you can use and old white torn up shirt. Get about a 7X7 inch cloth. Take the cloth and wrap it tight arount your first two fingers, your middle finger and index. Make sure that whatever your using to shine the boot is tight on your fingers. Make sure the cloth your using is flat on your fingers and tight. That will be what you will be shining with. Take those two fingers, dip them in your kiwi boot shine, only a thin layer at a time. Start at the top of the boot and work you way down. Putting only a thin layer on your whole boot. Rub it in your boot before you add water. You might not see a shine yet. Once it's rubbed in then dab the cloth into the water. After that dab a little kiwi and rub it in until it's absorbed into the boot. Don't add to much water, then the boot will not absorb the kiwi as well. Start with the front till you have a shine then work towards the back of the boot. You'll get a shine after going over the boot a couple times, but even though you have a good shine continue the process until you like the results. If your cloth get's too much water and kiwi on it during the shine, you can always reposition the cloth and continue.
Use only polish and take a hot spoon or flame to the boot after applying polish, then buff. Alternately carry an instant buff pad around with you and periodically re-do the shine.
Well I used spit and kiwi and never had that problem.....Try it again on another set of boots, just spit n polish. good luck
jj240 got it.
