So much has come crashing down on us in just this past decade, it's surprising there remain some pockets of people who still get a lump in their throat looking at the flag and who actually feel special to claim being an American.
The U.S. is under a "different" type of warfare, one driven internally and with a more insidious infection than any combat. Like "cancer" it spreads undetected, unnoticed and silent while it consumes one piece of the host at a time. By the time it's presence is realized, it is too late.
Take your pick: Muslims, "illegal immigrants", racial divides, downward spiraling economy, unemployment, "Political Correctness", attacks on Christian ideals, rampant and blatant corruption, lying and deception, attacks on the Constitution and our Bill of Rights, Government interference and spreading controls, loss of all trust in our Government, a "prostituted news media" we can't trust anymore and so on and so forth.
It's kind of hard to see the stars and stripes through the type of claptrap and hyperbole we are spoon fed every day.

No, it's not "politically correct" to be proud of your country, you might "offend" some idiot...
