Em Português por favor ou faz favor?
In Portugal, do you normally say por favor or faz favor? An Algarvian barman once told me that if you are desperate for a beer you say por favor otherwise it is faz favor. Also, if I use Google translate it seems that obrigado pela vossa ajuda and obrigado para seu ajuda both mean thank you for your help. What is the difference and is one more correct? Obrigado.

"Por favor" and "se faz favor" are synonyms. When asking for something, you can use both equally, though "por favor" is somehow stronger (I believe that's what the barman was talking about). In restaurants people usually use "se faz favor". "Uma cerveja, se faz favor" : )
"Obrigado pela vossa ajuda" and "obrigado pela sua ajuda" also mean the same, and are both formal ways of speaking. "Obrigado pela vossa ajuda" could also be plural. "sua ajuda" sounds more natural, I think!
