Well, reports show that as much as 90% of South Koreans in their 20s and 25% of the total population of South Korea are registered users of Cyworld.
Well, yeah... because it's the Korean ver. of Facebook pretty much, about the social security, well I don't really believe that, but S.S. is for Korean citizenship identification... it's their gov't. Like sometimes they ask for our S.S. here in the U.S., but it's not required, it's probably like that there, too. Korean government are involved with their people, it's Just policy.
Facebook, myspace, and friendster are available to Korea and internationally, it's just that, it's mostly American based. It's like saying Cyworld isn't here in the .U.S., but I can guarantee people in the U.S. have cyworld accounts.
Cyworld was made by Korea.
While Facebook and Myspace was not.
And Cyworld was created WAYYYYYY before Facebook and Myspace.
yeah. Mostly, really. if your korean friend says he/she doesn't use cyworld, it must be lie. so people can use cyworld as a means of finding people. other websites like myspace are not popular in Korea because of cyworld i think.
