although i can’t see my doctor face to face, we meet over a virtual appointment this afternoon and she thinks i may have hemorrhoids due to my rectal bleeding and clotting, constipation, and pain. she’s put me on laxative for a week, but I’ve started to notice my symptoms are different from what I can find online.
I’ve been bloating and cramping all afternoon, and I haven’t taken the laxative yet. can hemorrhoids cause abdominal pain?

Haemorrhoids (UK spelling) are related to constipation. Actually, they are mostly CAUSED by constipation and straining on the toilet. Haemorrhoids don't cause bloating and stomach pain but constipation can. Laxatives should help in the short term to get your bowels moving but the long term solution is a change of diet and lifestyle. A diet rich in fibre, particularly fruit, vegetables and whole grains is good along with adequate hydration. Your bowels don't work well if you don't drink enough. The other change is to move around more. The combination of diet, hydration and exercise is very likely to avoid constipation in future and allow your haemorrhoids to slowly get better.
The bloating and cramping is from intestinal gas trapped in your colon and rectum. Constipation is the main cause of hemorrhoids! Hemorrhoids are bleeding veins that are attacked by pressuring your abdominal muscles too long and too hard. Some doctors will not see patients with hemorrhoids. Once a year, I overeat Thanksgiving Day meal and feel the pressure in my gut. The stomach is kidney-bean shaped, and there is more open space inside the stomach. What works for me is to lie on my left side for 15-20 minutes so the compacted stomach contents can move or drop down providing some relief. The American College of Gastroenterology, experts in digestive diseases, recommend Ducolax as a laxative for some relief from constipation. Ducolax has issued a liquid form of the laxative that really works. Ducolax comes in tiny orange pills that recommends taking 3 pills at once for best relief in 5-6 hours. The new liquid brags bowel movements are possible in 30 minutes to 6 hours. I have used this liquid laxative twice and had bowel movements in 1 hour. You might repeat the dose if you want sure results. It is important that you drink a glass of water after swallowing the liquid laxative. The human body can generate water within the body's organs and tissues, so drinking a glass of water after the laxative will speed the action of the laxative. I add one tablespoon of chocolate syrup to the bottle that helps the minty taste of the laxative.

You have an other problem too.
No but constipation will. Your colon is going into spasm trying to force out the poo. Gas builds up due to the colon not moving properly, gas causes bloating.
Take the laxitives, it might cause more cramping but when you are empty it will all settle down.
