Are those assumptions sufficient? And, … can it be proved?

Let us consider the equations

X^2+pX+q=0 and

X^2+pX-q=0

where p, q are integers, q<>0 and the solutions of each equation are integers. Prove that there are a, b integers such as p^2=a^2+b^2 (a<>0, b<>0).

Update:

Those are independent equations

For ex. X^2-5X+6=0 (x1=2, x2=3)

X^2-5X-6=0 (x1=6, x2=-1)
