Where does the mechanical energy (potential + kinetic) go once the roller coaster stops?
I feel, when the roller coaster stops, all of its mechanical energy is converted to three forms ie., heat, light(due to spark) and sound energies.
Into thermal energy. Friction of deceleration results in emission of heat.
usually
brakes convert that energy to heat
