You do not deserve to have that poor dog back, you are irresponsible. That poor creature was not taken care of, for if he was, he would not have been out alone like that and to not neuter a dog is totally irresponsible. I hope you choose not to neuter him and give him the opportunity to find a family who loves him enough to take good care of him.
Nope. Once the shelter has him, its their rules. The dog will be neutered one way or the other - either you get your dog back neutered, or the dog will be neutered and put up for adoption. WHY would you not want to be responsible. Do you know or care that your dog may have bred with many other dogs running loose and you not keeping him in your yard?
Pull together an armed possé and go get your dog Ricardo. You sound like a Latino/Hispanic so I'm sure you'll have enough friends with guns you can round up. Just storm the place - make your demands clearly and calmly, and get your dog (complete with his testicles) back home safely where he belongs. Good luck Amigo!
Yup. They have every right to do that. Why don't you want to get him neutered? I doubt he's an AKC show dog that should be bred so what's your lame excuse? You'll spare him from getting testicular or prostate cancer if you neuter him.
You cant control your dog and prevent hin from roaming and potentially mating.. So you LOST the privelege of keeping him intact. If you cant control your dog, you dont need him intact.
Your "option" is to let animal control neuter and adopt him out or have him PTS.
Either way, youre not leaving the shelter with an intact dog
This is standard & it happens all the time. There is no alternative. In order to control the extreme overpopulation of dogs & cats, mandatory spay/neuter is necessary. Something has to stop the BYBers.

Unfortunatly it's the law. Some places give you the option though, but I haven't seen that since I was growing up.
I remember as a kid some shelters even did not fix dogs unless you requested it.
I guess it's a good thing. Every puppy deserves a home.
I think spaying and neutering is a good idea though for shelters.
Private rescues are different.

Should have put a leash on it then...
