So I set it up like this:
Qice = Qwater
micidT = mwcwdT
85g*.500(Tf -0) = 961g*1.00(Tf-28)
and I end up getting Tf= 2.8 degrees Celsius.
What did I do wrong? Any help would be great! thanks
Not sure how you came up with 2.8 but here is some help.
First dT, make sure always results in a positive value. dT(ice)=Tf - 0 but dT(water)=28 - Tf.
85g*.500(Tf -0) = 961g*1.00(28-Tf)
Multiply through.
42.5*Tf = 26908 - 961*Tf
Move the variable to one side.
1003.5*Tf = 26908
Isolate the variable.
Tf = 26.8 Degrees Celsius
