y(x,t)=A sin (kx + ωt - φ) + D ? giving 5 stars?

what is A and what is D in this equation?

I know that A is an amplitude but I don't fully understand it. And for I am not sure either. Thanks in advance, giving 5 stars as always.

Update:

I forgot to put D in "And for D I am not sure either"

So basically I need an in depth explanation of A and D in this equation, with some examples if possible. THANKS
