You have two forces, 99.4 N and 56.7 N. What is their magnitude if the first acts upward and the 2nd downward?

If they are in opposite directions, one subtracts from the other. 10 N up and 5 N down would be a net force of 10 - 5 = 5 N up. Now use your numbers.
If they are in the same direction, then they add. 10 N down and 5 N down would be 10 + 5 = 15 N down. Now use your numbers.
Net force up = (99.4 - 56.7) = 42.7N.
Down = (99.4 + 56.7) = 156.1N.
