Why won’t house republicans pass a bigger relief package?
$600 isn’t enough to cover months of passed due rent, utilities bill, and food. Democratic proposed a relief package of $2000 Thursday but it was rejected but house republicans. I don’t understand why the won’t pass the bill? Most of that money will go back into the economy anyways. Unemployment benefits end tomorrow and next month a lot of people will be evicted and student loan payments are due after Jan 31st. Yet other countries like Canada gave out $2000 a month .

You might look at the rest of the actual proposed bill. It's not just about stimulus checks.

They want tax cuts for the rich instead.
The republicans only care about the rich and the religious.
Because they believe that money should go to corporations and people who already have a lot of money. If you look at pretty much any republican legislation, the sole purpose is to give those two groups money.
Pelosi rejected a stand alone bill for stimulus checks that Trump wanted to sign.
Republican lawmakers are torn between their sworn duty to serve the public and their loyalty to the party line which is to oppose any sort of public support legislation at any cost. Most of the time, Republicans default to the party line over the good of the citizens, so it’s really no surprise.
