Why is there blood in my puppy’s stool?

My boyfriend just recently purchased a rotterman puppy. She is 9 weeks old and is thriving! Eating perfectly and is learning quick.

However, today we discovered blood in her stool. Ever since the first stool at around 7 pm, she has went on to do another 4 stools within 4 hours, all containing fresh blood. She also has a cough/gag like reflex today.

May I also add that today we left her alone for the first time whilst we got the shopping. Could the stress potentially of caused this or could it be something else underlying?

Any advice guys much appreciated I am a really worried puppy mumma 😭

Any time you find blood in pee or stool, its a cause to see the vet right away. Take a sample of the stool with you - dog should be seen as quickly as you can. You don't want the dog to have major problems by delaying treatment!

Rottweiler, not rotterman.

Did she eat something that's damaging her intestines (a toy, something she found on the ground, etc.)?

Was she tested for worms?

Rectal bleeding and vomiting can mean a couple of infectious diseases that can be fatal very quickly. EVen if it's something treatable, puppies get dehydrated and can die of just that.

Please wrap the puppy up in a towel to keep it warm, call ahead to the vet and tell them what is happening. they will bring you in by a side door, so you don't infect the other dogs in the waiting room. But get your puppy to a vet clinic NOW, or you will probably findit dead in the morning.

There is no such thing as a rotterman. The breed is Rottweiller. Your vet should be asking you how long ago you bought this puppy- this could be the fault of the person you bought him from.

Don't know, could be a number of things, ask the vet when you take her in for her first wellness exam which all new pet owners should do within 48 hours of acquiring the pup, don't forget to bring a fresh, less than two hours old fecal specimen for parasite evaluation.

There is no such breed as a "rotterman" it's an obvious mix, with a cutesy name so they can overcharge for profit only, without any regard to the pups health or well being, just like all the other supposed designer dogs, that will never be nothing more than another mix.

This puppy probably has PARVO or DISTEMPER and if you continue to do nothing it will be DEAD.

If its clumpy blood it came from higher up inside and if n runny from the bottom. Probably swallowed something that cut him inside. Not supposed to feed them any chewies or things that xan break.
