FN-2187: Hi. Not necessarily the theme song but a song about politicians who wouldn't send their sons to war but they sure as ---- would send everybody else's.
a fortunate son refers to the sons of wealthy families who paid dearly to keep their sons from being drafted into the Vietnam War. Credence still sounds good, I have been enjoying their tunes for years.
When one listens to the lyrics, it's pretty obvious. You should try that.
The "fortunate sons" were those who were able to use Daddy's wealth or influence to avoid being drafted. Like our current Commander-in-Chief, who had "bone spurs in his heels".
Yes, there were a bunch of songs from that time. The War inspired many. Quite a few also who were actually involved and were LUCKY enough to come home. They tell a REAL vision. Allot of the others due to subject matter and the expression of the views, history cleanses away. We want a patriotic view of a terrible time. Makes it much simpler to reconcile the horror.
I lived those times as a School kid. My first life experience, OUR GOVERNMENT lies to us. The draft, took so many of my and our neighbors and sent them to a "meat grinder". Everyone knew people who were sent there from our neighborhood. We knew a couple who came home missing parts.
............................ And our government lies to us.
* That whole thing to this day does not sit well with me.

The song is specifically about how the rich don't go to fight.
