Although different Christians have different talents and abilities, the spiritual gifts you are referring to ended long ago as the apostles died out, toward the end of the first century, just as predicted by the apostle Paul (Ac 8:18; 19:6; 1Cor 13:3-8).
Only an apostle could impart spiritual gifts upon a Christian, and did so by laying their hands on them. Obviously as they died out, that phenomena died out with them. Anyone claiming they have some sort of miraculously acquired spiritual gift is lying to you. And nonsensical gibberish is NOT biblical speaking in tongues.
Because of what they have been taught or misread from 1 Cor 12….And no one can go beyond what they know…
1 Corinthians 1:2 tells us who this epistle is addressed to:
1:2 “Unto the church of God, which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
“Since you are one of the “all” if you are born again …you are included…which means this epistle is addressed to You.
In chapters 12, 13, &14 of I Corinthians the word GIFTS has been added four times …..12:1, as well as 13:2, 14:1 & 14:12. These should be deleted or crossed out in your Bible, as they are not in the original text and not well supplied in these verses.
12:1) Now concerning spiritual (gifts) brethren I would not have you ignorant. The word “spiritual” in verse 1 is the Greek word (pneumatikos) meaning “that which belongs to, is determined by, influenced by, or proceeds from the spirit” (spiritual matters).
By inserting the word GIFTS here, it sets the mental assumption for the rest of this chapter….and that assumption has been incredibly deceptive to many for years.1
2:1 A literal translation could be: Now concerning matters belonging to, determined by, influenced by, or proceeding from, the spirit; brethren I would not have you to be uninformed.
12:3 A literal of verse 3, could be: “Because you were lead away by dumb idols in the past. I want to declare unto you that no one who is speaking in tongues is denouncing or calling Jesus accursed. And no one is really capable of declaring that Jesus is lord in there life except by way of speaking in tongues which is the gift in manifestation.”
12:4 A literal understanding of this would be: “Through the choice or option of God, there are gifts given to man.”
Verse 4 does talk about the “diversity of gifts” …..of which there are seven given to the “Church of the Body of Christ” → (“5 gift ministries” listed in Ephesians 4:11) → (“holy spirit” “the gift” given at new birth…Acts 2:38) and →(“gifts of healing” because every healing is a gift, but it is still a manifestation thereof …1 Cor 12:9).
Verse 6 states that God is the one who energizes (worketh) each operation.
In verse 7 of 1 Corinthians 12 it changes from gifts to MANIFESTATION.
Verse 7 “But the MANIFESTATION of the spirit is given to every man to profit withal”
The word “but” is a conjunction that sets in contrast that which precedes it … verses 4-6 was dealing with gifts, but now it’s changed from gifts to manifestation; so what’s the difference between gift and manifestation.
A gift is individually given and you do not have it unless someone gives it to you, a “manifestation” is an evidence, a showing forth of something you already have.
The word manifestation in the Greek is phanerôsis meaning “to be visible,” “bring to light,” “or open to sight” “to show forth in the sense world”. What is it that we are to bring to light? ….Verse 7 says the spirit. Verse 7 further goes on to say that it is given to every man (all inclusive) every person (who is born again of God)
For example: If someone gives you a cell phone…. that is a gift. You make calls, text messaging, take pictures; that is the manifestation or operation of the phone.
What if someone gave you a phone with all the features, but you didn’t know how to use it. You would still have the phone (the gift) with all the features, but if you didn’t know how to use it …you could not manifest or operate the phone. ….
If we call these a gift…. we put ourselves in the position of waiting for God to give us one or more of the so-called gifts listed in verses 8-10. It stimulates believers to hope, desire, pray and beg for something, and then to question their righteousness, their goodness, and their worthiness, as to why they do not receive it.
And that is why some have it and others don’t ….Because they think it’s a gift ….and it’s NOT it’s a Manifestation of the gift that has already been given to them.
Calling it a gift would also make God a respecter of persons as to whom He gives these (so called) “gifts” to; and we know, that God is no respecter of persons….. as the Bible states in Acts 10:34, Ephesians 6:9, Colossians 3:25. …..God is a respecter of conditions, the condition being “believing” …… believing what is available.
For God to give you two {quote un quote} “gifts” and only give me one …would make him a respecter of persons. God has seen you fit….God did His part when He put His seed (holy spirit, the gift) in you. It is up to you, not God, to make the next move ….and your next move is to accept what God says is available…. and operate it.

I Cor. 12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
Some say the words “severely as he will” are referring to “as God wills”. If that were the case then God just contradicted Himself from verse 7 where He stated “is given to every man”
Furthermore the word severely is the Greek word idia from idios meaning “ones own”.Of the 114 times the word idios is used in the Bible, this is the only place it is translated severely. Usually translated “one’s own” “his own” “your own”.
By using the correct rendering of this word idios verse 11 would read “dividing (distributing) to every man his own, as he (the man) will”.
I think all Christians have spiritual gifts. Perhaps some gifts are not obvious. Maybe your gift is not easy to discern, either by you or by others.
Do you want a gift that a stranger walking on the opposite sidewalk can immediately see? In other words, do you want to walk around with a visible halo?
It's called stewardship my friend. Every last person is given a gift and a certain measurement of faith.
If you take what you have been given and show God that you can handle it that you can bring in some followers to Jesus Christ with what God has given you then God's going to give you some more!
Let's use me as an example because I'm a good example of what not to do! When God gives you spiritual gifts.
I grew up in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's witnesses I learned the Bible early I learned how to knock on doors and tell people about the coming Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
All my teenage cronies in school kept saying hey man let's all go do some drugs and party who cares about going to church?
Yeah well my dumb donkey butt listened! And instead of keeping the $300,000 worth of property and money that my grandmother generously left me!
I squandered it on dope and cars.
Had I seen fit to retain the spiritual gift of ministry that Jehovah God had taught me in my earlier years instead of being 60 years old today broke and poor wondering where my next bill money is going to come from.
I would be sitting in a nice retirement community where they do everything for you. What about $800,000 in the bank.
So when God gives you one little job to do do that one little job properly don't let your cronies talk you into going out and partying with them and doing dope and joining in with them in the nonsense.
Use that one little gift that God gave you and he'll move you along to bigger and better things in life.
It's entirely up to God, but possible reasons might include whether people need the gifts, whether they are able to handle the gifts and whether the gifts will be distractions from more important things, as well as whether the person is in the right relationship of God. For instance, someone might become proud about their gift, or be blinded by the gifts they have and not notice the virtues that they lack.
Being of service is a spiritual gift. I generally don't go NIV, but this says it nicely. Romans 12:6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead,do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

It's all about what happens when you're giving a gift how do you treat it do you treat it with respect or you just toss it in the garbage
God gives to each Christian one or more charisms at his baptism.
