Why do religious leader tell their flock that the words quoted at ( John14:2, 3) applies to them?

John 14:2,3- King James Version.

2.In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

** Those words were spoken by Jesus to his disciples.. not everyone in general, so by whose authority do religious leaders and individual come to the conclusion that it means them?

Update:

Fireball: There is no verse that says " all the saved will go to heaven".. None.

Scooter: You attempting to answer a question with a question. That's like saying some did cling to the side of the Ark and made it for a couple days until their muscles gave in.
