Why do people that repeat the same old cliché’s consider themselves individuals or different/special?
I am opposed to teenagers and young people referring to themselves as emos, goths, preps, scene or whatever.
It is so FAKE.
The reason is this: If you go by a label such as emo,
goth, prep, jock or whatever you are not truly unique.
You are just another teenage conformist acting out
a role to seem more intriguing or deep.
If you were genuine and original you wouldn't fit into
any of those pre-determined categories because
you would be your OWN individual.It is impossible
for you to be your own individual when there are millions
of others just like you.It's just like a fad or trend.

A lot of the time these kids need structure to understand and express their own individuality, and these labels give them the confidence to do so with people who identify similarly to them. Often they grow out of it in college, but the group identification helped them survive high school without feeling quite as alone.
That's true, but an individual will recognize that and say that they can't be labeled however, they will be labeled by others in a certain light because of their own perspectives on your appearance. Not even an individual can stop that from happening.

I find that the individuals truly deserving of those pre-defined categories, don`t flaunt or label themselves as such.
I personally think the way they call themselves emo or prep or goths is because THEY HAVE SOMETHING INCOMMON.
They are truly unique I mean every person is but they have something they all do all or listen to.Every one of them has personal style and taste.

I do not have a label, I am me. I have traits from them all; hippie, girlie,preppy, surfy etc, but really I am just me. Why do we have to conform to one? I hear you loud and clear.
