I originally thought it was stand your ground, in a which case a person does not have to leave an incident where he feels his life or well being is in great danger, which by law permits that person to use deadly force if necessary. Zimmermans attorney stated in a video ( granted old video.) that stand your ground wasn't the issue or revelent at all at the time and it was more so self defense that came into order, but after reading the wikipedia article as well as other sources they claim that stand your ground was the prominent defense used by zimmerman either or at least - on wikipedias side anyways – was the defense that was later used by Zimmermans defense team.
I am doing a report for my english on this matter so I would really appreciate accurate and fully detailed responses thank you.

Stand your ground was never part of his defense. Once somebody is attacking you and trying to kill you stand your ground no longer applies, it simply becomes self defense.
Self defense.
He didn’t need to mount a defense, really. There was not enough evidence to show that anything had happened in the first place. No one saw anything, so they couldn’t convict him of anything. That doesn’t make him “innocent;” it just makes him damned lucky.

I am glad he won...
Because it upholds the law that you have the right to protect yourself. If ,however, it didn't hold then it would be the start of a revolution against the 2nd amendment and the American people.
self defense. SYG was never invoked.
