“Why do people have to be this lonely? What's the point of it all"?
"Millions of people in this world, all of them yearning, looking to others to satisfy them, yet isolating themselves. Why? Was the earth put here just to nourish human loneliness?”
To follow the trend: people don't have to be anything. They just are.
Besides, if it wasn't for loneliness, we'd have failed as a species. All that we have achieved is due to our gregarious nature. Because we are lonely, we seek out other people, we help each other, be build bonds, we look for greater meaning and we prosper through our need to share our live with others. If people didn't feel loneliness, then we would never have known love, kindness or friendship because we wouldn't need it. We wouldn't have developed technology the way we have, we wouldn't have look for God through religion, we would not need to express ourselves through art, we probably wouldn't have even developed anything beyond the most primitive linguistics. We own our nature, our kindness, our ability to communicate, our cooperative accomplishments and the beautiful things that we have created to our loneliness.
