For one thing, Jesus never told us to celebrate His birthday. Also, Christmas trees and Santa Claus and giving presents come from paganism and have nothing to do with Christianity. A lot of Christian families don’t even talk about Jesus during Christmas, so why do they think they’re honoring Him by celebrating it?

1) Why do Christians think they’re honoring Jesus by celebrating Christmas?
Because Christmas
celebrates the birth of Jesus.
2) For one thing, Jesus never told us to celebrate His birthday.
He also never told us to build churches
or attend church services
or pray to him in English
or sing songs to him
or...well, you get the point.
If you don't, the point is this: ALL of us Christians do these two things:
- engage in religious practices that the Bible does NOT teach the Biblical Christians engaged in
- believe in religious doctrines that the Bible does NOT teach the Biblical Christians believed or taught
3) Also, Christmas trees and Santa Claus and giving presents come from paganism and have nothing to do with Christianity.
You have been misinformed.
Look up "Santa Claus" please.
4) A lot of Christian families don’t even talk about Jesus during Christmas
Yeah...lukewarm Christians and non-Christians.
Example: there are also the Japanese, most of whom (> 90%) are not Christian, yet they celebrate Christmas as a national holiday.
5) so why do they think they’re honoring Him by celebrating it?
I'm guessing
that the families that do NOT mention Jesus on Christmas
also do NOT think that they are honoring Jesus by celebrating Christmas.
Wrong on the first part. We all should know his birthday is in the fall during feast of tabernacles. This is why it is imperative to study the feast days!
But the rest yeah. All that pagan crp came in cuz of catholic merging pagan with christian.
The word, "Christmas" says it all. Coupled with widespread gift giving and the joy of the Christmas season, it's a great way to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ.
The use of elements from outside the main Christian tradition is not problematic.
Firstly, just because one is not commanded to do something, doesn’t mean it’s prohibited
Secondly, there is nothing pagan about Santa Claus, unless you consider Coca Cola to be pagan
Thirdly, you don’t know what Christian families talk about in the privacy of their own Christmas celebrations.
Another religion nut...
Celebrate it or don't...it's up to you and whichever way you choose is fine.
Romans 14:5
One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
The only reason people with kids celebrate Christmas is because others buy gifts for their children on this day. Christian can tell the Children when they are a little older what the true meaning of christmas is all about. the Catholic Church is the reason we celebrate Jesus birth on December 25 because they wanted to drawl the pagans into Christianity. Thanks for the question.
The Christians who think that Christmas is all about Jesus ARE honouring him when they celebrate Christmas.
Most of the things associated with Christmas are of pagan origin, but that doesn't mean that some of the people who celebrate it aren't celebrating ONLY because they feel that it 'honours' Jesus.
Dear Mr. Potato head. Who says that Christians believe or have anything to do with santa Claus? I'm talking about true Christians now, and not those who you mistakenly define as Christians. You are prepared to repeat these absurd accusations while not knowing who or what a true Christian is! Your definition of a Christian appears to be is ANYBODY who comes from a so called, "Christian country" who has not already declared themselves as either Muslim or Jewish or of some other persuasion.
