If I were you, I'd go with Geforce 8600 GTS for a couple dollars more. The 8500 series are very basic entry-level cards, whereas the 8600's are more future-proof.
When Dx10 games finally flood the market in the next year or two, your 8500 GT would probably be able to only play new games at low graphic settings.
Currently 8600 GTS sells for about $150-200 USD, but will drop in price this year end, due to releases of even better cards. If you can wait, wait it out, and get the 8600 GTS at a much lower price, for better performance than the 8500.
Yes The 8500 is a "dedicated" graphics card. Where as the onboard Intel one is not as dedicated. It does not have its own memory and is not as advanced or have as fast of a core as the nvidia card.
Onboard cards (Like the intel one) are really only there to allow you to use the computer for basic tasks such as web browsing, playing older games, and using any other simple productivity software.
You will not be able to play the latest games well, play DVD's with high quality visuals, or any other graphics demanding aplications with the onboard Intel-950.
NVidia of course. Intel Graphics 950 is just the basic, and it does not support directX 10.0 as NVidia 8x00 series do. you only can play basic games with intel graphics.
