I'm an Italian Jew and growing up, I've never had a middle name but now, I'm able to. I'm going to use my grandmother's name but I'm not sure which one. Her real name is Eléonora but her nickname is Léonora. Léonora to me sounds less Italian, I'm not even sure if it's more common than Eléonora in Italy. Eléonora sounds traditional and old but I'm not sure if that's the case in Italy. I really don't want to lose my identity through my name so for those who are Italian/live in Italy, which is more of an Italian name: Eléonora or Léonora? What do you prefer?

You have to choose Eleonora, it is a very common name in Italy, and as you said it is quite traditional.
Instead, I've never heard the name "Leonora" (could it be a diminutive?) before and I don't think it is an italian name.
Eleonora is more Italian and it is not considered old here. I know many girls with that name.
Anyway it's Eleonora and Leonora without the accent on the E.
