They both come from Catholic tradition. Neither, in my opinion, are supported by the Bible. However as this is not a salvation issue I don't see it as important.
The immaculate conception was detailed in the Bible. An angel appeared to Mary and told her she was pregnant. Mary was taken by surprise since she was a virgin. But, she had to accept the situation on faith. From what I gather, as a child attending a Catholic school, the Assumption is part of the Catholic religion's mythology.
The misleadings of mistaken men. Neither is scriptural. The immaculate conception idea tries to say Mary was sinless. She wasn't and there's no basis for this belief. If she had to be sinless to concieve a sinless Son, then her mother had to be sinless to concieve her and so on and so on. Hence un-Biblical. The "assumption" heck I've got no clue where this idea came from or how it was planted into "church" doctrine.
I have no clue but they thought somehow that Mary also- besides Jesus- was born without sin. Which is nowhere in the Bible- Jesus is THE only person in the universe to be born without sin.
Let's just look at the facts besides the great amount of Biblical detail available in the article i sited below(because i don't believe in taking up a rude amount of space in an answer).
Mary became the only person ever to carry The Incarnate God Himself in her womb, he was connected to her bloodstream and her umbilical cord, they shared DNA. Could this even be possible let alone desirable for God to be inside of a sinful person and share their blood and DNA?
From the Vatican, Italy. this is element of their non-income theory equipment that this is incorrect to anticipate that Cardinal Bernard regulation and Cardinal Roger Mahoney ever lined up any baby crimes interior the US in spite of the shown fact that this is desirable to anticipate that Mary is God.

These events in history do not show up in the Bible because the Bible is not about Mary, it is about God.
The Immaculate Conception and Assumption of Mary are beliefs from the early centuries of the Christian Church.

Catholic tradition. Neither is spoken of in scripture.
Immaculate conception, as taught by Catholicism, claims that Mary herself was conceived without sin. It does NOT refer to her conceiving Jesus.
See God about the Immaculation.
Mary had the incorrect Assumption that she was pregnant. However, she really just had a beer belly. Jesus really parachuted from Heaven.

From the Bible. Luke 1:26-35. The Holy Spirit came upon her and she conceived.
The immaculate conceotion had been around for a long time before Mary. The rest, the Bible I suppose...
