Looking at the posts above, it's amazing how many don't actually know the English language. Reticent means silent, withholding etc.
And to answer the question, it can come down to a number of answers; Some are too polite to call the bull, some actually believe it true, while others, like I, have given up on dealing with that crap and let someone else call 'em out on it.
"It is the office of a true teacher to show us that God is, not was; that He speaketh, not spake." -Ralph Waldo Emerson
There are certainly a fair few people who are either liars or crazy in some way or other, but I believe that God can speak to whomever he chooses, not just prophets. I'm reluctant to call such people out as liars because 1) I'm polite, and 2) I certainly wouldn't want to be called out as the pig before whom pearls were cast. BUT as a Mormon I also believe God has a clear line of authority established. Parents can receive revelation for their children, bishops for their congregation, and the prophet for everybody. God will not speak things meant for me to a random stranger.
Because some people equate the belief in gods with mental illness without having first-hand knowledge, experience plus qualifhcations in medical science as well as psychology. They don't even know that, that is what they're doing.
Speaking to God is no big deal; people do it all the time. It's claiming that God spoke to them I doubt. But even then, I'd reserve the term "liar" for more intentional errors. Most of them are delusional rather than liars. That is, their imagination played tricks on them.
No idea, the bible has many verses that say such things happen but i guess in this day and age with technology and psychology well people regardless that they say they believe in the stuff in the bible do not believe in such things to happen in their lives.
Also someone said noone has seen or heard god now idk about the heard part as i do not think the bible says that but the bible does give a contradiction about god being seen in the OT and being unable to be seen in the NT.
I don't call them liars. I call them mentally ill people who need to seek medical attention. Hearing voices is not good you know? Kinda means you're losing the plot just a tad okay?

I think the opposite is true. When people claim to have spoken to God I am never reluctant to call them liars. I usually call them crazy too.

Because to call someone crazy who thinks God is talking to them would apply just as much to Christianity.
God is not real and even if you believe that nonsense it states in the bible no man has seen or heard God
For the same reasons psychiatrists diagnose individuals with schizophrenia.
