What would be the ideal Pokémon team to face the Elite Four (Ruby)?
Hey, everyone! I recently found my old Pokémon Ruby for GBA and I'm going to start a new game. The only obstacle I have is that I don't know what Pokémon I should catch and train to prepare for the Elite Four. I already know that I'm going to pick Torchic as my starter, and I'm also going to use Groudon, so what other Pokémon should I try to catch? Thanks in advance for all answers! And by the way, I'm also considering catching Bagon and training it until it's a Salamence. Do you think I should do that, too?

I can't think of another Pokemon but definitely get Trapinch and evolve to Flygon, catch Skarmory, and get Bagon. Milotic is a pain in the *** to get but very worthy it.
Been a while since I've played pokemon, but Ruby was one of my favorites :D
If you're going for the Elite 4, basically what you want to do is have 2 pokemon that are really good all-rounders, without many weaknesses and with moves that are both strong, and also super effective against many types- e.g. electric moves are only S.E. on 2 types of pokemon, but they are not very effective on 3 types, and have NO effect on 1 type! Ice moves on the other hand, although they are not effective on 4 types, they do have SOME effect on all types, and are S.E against 4 types of pokemon.
So Ice beam is a good all-round move.

Now that you have 2 all round pokemon, for your other 4 pokemon choose 1 for each of the elite 4, giving them moves that are super effective against each of that specific boss' pokemon.
Google each boss to find which pokemon they have, and use the chart to see which moves are good against that pokemon.
Remember to bring LOTS of full heals, full restore, full potions, and Ethers for when you run out of PP!
always fully restore your pokemon between fights!
