Sure he has 26 HR's but the guy hitting close to the Mendoza line!!! Plus he only has 84 hits. Adam Dunn is way better than him but gets no love :(.
Update:Soooo why is ok for Tampa to pay him 12m a year(i think is what he makes) but not pay Carl Crawford? He is still a 5 tool player or at least a 4 tool player. I am just saying... CC is way way better.

The Rays front office has already said they are not going to resign there free agents, that means the Rays are loosing Soriano, Crawford, & Pena. The Rays will fill the positions from within. The Rays orginization knows this is there year, then they start rebuilding again. There young players are about to hit arbitration & they need to save as much money as posible for them.
Well there won't be that many power hitting 1st basemen on the free agent market in the offseason unless some are available via trade. If I were the Rays, I'd just re-sign Pena. He's looks more comfortable playing in Tropicana Field, despite his batting average being so low. You can't ignore the power that he brings to the Rays lineup, though. Him and Longoria should stay together as the Rays power sources.
Pena is a better defensive player and if you are comparing him to Dunn I would say that Prince Fielder is a better defensive 1B than Dunn. Dunn will go to the AL and DH.
You're completely disregarding the fact that he's a gold-glove 1st baseman. His glovework, alone, deserves a contract offer. The 26 Hr's is icing on the cake.
