what is the molar mass of Mg(SO4)2 • 7H2O (Magnesium Sulfate Hepta hydrate)
i know how to calculate the molar mass, but there are two separate oxygens and i also dont know how to calculate the hydrate part. please show the steps , especially for 7H2O
thank you for your help!
Update:is the 18.015 the molar mass of H2O?

Just do 7 times 18.015 for the seven waters. Then, add that value to the weight of the MgSO4.
246.4696 g/mol is the value I get. You my differ just a little bit.
Another example:
CuSO4 • 5H2O
In this one, do the CuSO4, then do five waters (5 x 18.015). Add the two values together for the answer. You always include the water of crystallization (or water of hydration) when calculating the molar mass of the substance.
