"だけ" is simply translated into "only" or "just". "ばかり" is more complicated. It has many meanings and nuances.
私はスシだけ食べる > I only eat sushi.(I don't eat anything else.)
私はスシばかり食べる > I eat sushi (more than I should eat.) (I might eat something else, but it is not enough.) > I always eat sushi.
オレンジを三つだけ買った > I bought just 3 oranges. (not 2, not 4, I bought 3 oranges)
オレンジを三つばかり買った > I bought about 3 oranges. (it might be 2 or 4)
来ただけだ > I only came here. (I did nothing else)
来たばかりだ > I've just came here. (I have no time to do anything else)
For example,
ä»äºã ãã人çãããªã (both written & colloquial)
ä»äºã°ããã人çãããªã(more like written)ã
--> ä»äºã°ã£ããï¼ã°ã£ãï¼ã人çãããªã(colloquial)
Although most of the time ã ã can be replaced with ã°ããï¼ã°ã£ããã»ã°ã£ãï¼
the following, for example, is NOT substitutable:
ï¼personï¼ã ãã« verb ãe.g. ãããåã ãã«ããã (I only give you this.)
We don't say åã°ããã«ããã
Or,ãåã°ãããããã sounds more jealous than åã ããããã
(the both mean "only you'll have that.")
-- so far...
one more example;
You can say ï½ã ãï¼ alone. e.g. 俺ã ãï¼ãããï¼ããã ãï¼ ã ä¼ã¿ã¯åææ¥ã ãï¼
But you cannot say ãï½ã°ããï¼ã°ã£ããï¼ ã°ã£ãï¼ï¼ you need a PARTICLE
ï½ã°ããã...ããï½ã°ããã§...ããï½ã°ããã...ãetc.
æ¯æ¥åå¼·ã°ã£ããï½ with no question mark (I just stury and study everyday!) is OK.
to me nothing it looks exactly the same
