Okay hi so i know what they are, but i dont know WHEN to use them..
Defini= le, la, l', les
Indefini= un, une, des
can someone explain please? its just that my french teacher really sucks. he does not explain anything and he magically expects us to know this when he should be teaching us it, so im taking it upon myself to teach myself over the internet lol. but i couldn't really find much on the whole defini/indefini thing. Thanks anyone who answers!!

Definite means: known for certain or precise, so when you use a definite article, it is beacuse you know the thing you are talking about: the book, the car, le livre, la voiture,
but when you speak generaly about things or people you are less precise so you use an undefinite article "a" in English,
Examples:
I saw a dog, here you do not know whose dog is it, just a dog! so undefinite article, j'ai vu un chien,
but I saw the dog, means you alreday talked about this dog before, so you are precise, this is THE dog, j'ai vu le chien!
ok?
But what if we are given an excersice saying completez en utilisant l article defini ou indefini? ?
Meaning complete the excersice using defini and indefini ? So in tht Case wht should we do???
