Who decides? Did Jesus leave somebody in charge of some type of official licensing organization when he left?
Update:Nope, not kidding. I just had an answer that suggested they had some type of monopoly or something, and used that term.

you have to make an effert reading the bible and trust me there's one way not two or three to God, read it and be positive and objective....you'll find the right direction out of all these dinominations and religions.
Well, I can figure two different types of "Untrue Christians," which is a poor term, but I will use for the purpose of this question.
The first type of untrue Christian can be one who denies the main tenet of Christianity (that whole thing about the divinity of Jesus and acceptance as savior) yet still claims to be Christian. I haven't looked into it much, but Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses are rumored to be in this group.
The second type of untrue Christian can be one who claims to be Christian, but does not follow the teachings of Jesus. "You shall know them by their fruits," and whatnot. A good and commonly used example of this type is Westboro Baptist Church, whose behavior has caused at least national infamy in the United States.
The very few times I have used the word "Unchristian" have been in reference to behavior, not a judgment on the salvation or heart of another.
What I've found out over the years is that councils ruin things. They want to believe that councils helped to clarify things, and I really think some things were better clarified, but essentially the councils of the past were a mixed bag, then really went off into things that hurt and harmed people. All that is incontrovertible. So study. That's really all I can say to a skeptic. Because if I launch off into a scriptural defense of my position, then I'm going to sound like everyone else to you. I got a basic understanding of the Bible from a Philosophies of Education professor from Stanford University, but that doesn't mean scholars are always good to listen to.
See if this agrees with you, and if it does, you'll get off to a good start in my opinion.

The best religion (TM) is the one that promises you the most blessings, but you have to remember that it will cost you the most money. It could also take a day of each week from you, as well as your children for a couple of years to proselytize without pay, and a good chunk of your gross paycheck.
Or you might just realize that religion is hogwash, and do something useful on Sunday, like fishing with your kids or seeing a good movie with your friends.
Jesus is the true test. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and no one comes to the Father, but by Him. He who has the Son, has Life (eternal life). Any "religion", church, or belift system that
tries to do without Jesus as the answer, is not truth. It is about Him...not "religion".
Read John 3;16 & 17
The True Christian Faith is not a man-made denomination of Christianity.
As a matter of fact, each one of us are in charge of our own lives.
Mark 13:32-36
Mark 12:1-12
Ask them "If I lead an exemplary, charitable life full of good deeds, but don't necessarily accept Jesus as my Saviour, will I still burn in the fires of Hell ?" and their answer is "yes !", then you've got your ® Christian.
it is the only one that does NOT claim to have absolute Truth
"The Tao is not the Tao" zen philosophy ( Tao = the unknowable deity)
if you think you know, you are wrong
Read the Bible.
In Matthew it says "You will know them by their fruits"
Do they follow God's word or twist it? Pervert it? Only take what they want or add other stuff in?
