Convert to a decimal in degrees: 130°46'55"
I have NO idea how to do this!
Recall that a minute is 1/60 of a degree and that a second is 1/60 of a minute or 1/3600 of a degree. So we have:
130°46'55"
= [ 130 + (46/60) + (55/3600) ]°
= [ 130 + (23/30) + (11/720) ]°
≈ 130.7819444°
Hope this helps!
Well, you already have the degree portion of your answer in the fact that 130 degrees was given.
We now need to convert 46 minutes and then 55 seconds to degree form.
We simply add.
130 + (46/60) + (55/3600) =
130 + 0.766666667 + 0.015277778 = 130.78 degrees
130°46'55" = 130 + 46/60 + 55/3600 = 130.781944444°
Don't worry Manda, you're not alone in that regard.
