I know it's apparently what Jeju fisherwomen say when going out to sea, but I really want to know what it means. I heard it in a song and I can't find the meaning anywhere. D:
Thank you in advance!
Update:This is a Korean phrase. :| I don't think it has to do with Yemen, or an..imam.

After looking it up, heres what I've pieced together:
- Ieodo (also called Parangdo, or Suyan Rock in China) is a submerged rock in the Yellow Sea. According to maritime law, submerged rocks can't be claimed as territory by any nation, but even so, it's disputed territory between South Korea and China, who each consider it to be part of their exclusive economic zones. It's about 150 kilos from the coast of Jeju-do.
- "이어도 사나" is an old phrase that's related to an old legend that has to do with Ieodo/Parangdo. It was the name of a mythical island in an old Jeju legend. A long time ago, Jeju residents believed that the island housed spirits of fisherman who died at sea. So, people in fishing boats would say it before going out to sea, as would the fisherwomen as they were getting ready to dive in order to protect themselves (it was like, a song they would sing to appease the sea(?) so that they would be able to return safely)
- even a lot of Koreans ask what this phrase means, so I'm going to assume that old Jeju legends are like the traditional Jeju dialect: completely unique to Jeju and not well understood by Koreans on the mainland (the traditional Jeju dialect is pretty different from Korean dialects anywhere else on the peninsula. One of my friends once told me that it has different vocabulary and verb endings [some of which is due to mongolian influence], and that to Koreans its almost like another language, lol.)
hope this helps ♥
