When I was in Venezuela earlier this year I posed that question to some of the natives. Most refused to speak with me. There was one shopkeeper who spoke to me in a back room however, in hushed tones. The people there hate him and are afraid of him. They despise everything he stands for. They know that if they are caught criticizing him that they and their family will "disappear". Got the picture?
I don't know that much about him, but I think he cares for his people. He does somewhat concern me by wanting to be established as a permanent leader, not subject to the election process. That would make him a problem in the making I believe.
I think that probably he was the rigth person as President of Venezuela in the past but he changed over to confrontation speach out and inside of his country and It isn't very good bussiness. Trade and bussiness need a peaceful enviroment. He has been trying to change law in his country in order to keep the power and in my opinion he isn't the rigth person as President of Venezuela now. He only want to be the centre of attention and he can't contribute with something good for his country.
Unlike most persons who answered your question, I feel he is a leader who I admire greatly for a number of reasons. He was able to unify many Latin countries to try to break the US domination of Latin America.Internally he has greatly expanded human services for Venezuelans, housing, land reform, health care, and transportation. He has been instrumental in liberating Colombian hostages, and he has made alliances throughout the world, including Russia which sent a full Navy fleet to visit Venezuela. Lastly when he came to the USA, he gave free heating oil to persons who could not afford it. He has also his medical schools to working class and minority students who could not afford to study in y\the United States. He is putting his oil wealth to a social purpose, helping the people of the world.

I hesitate to use such language in front of a lady. Let your imagination fill in the blanks.
One more egotistical Latin American dictator. *yawn* See Woody Allen's "Bananas" for my thoughts on him and 100 before him.
Like the leader of Iran, he's trying to be macho.
I think someone should "take care of him." It would make the world a better place.
