The Mayans never predicted the 'end of the world' with their calendar. It's just the end of an age for man, the beginning of a new age. Hey, I've got a 2011 calendar that ends at midnight on Dec 31st, does that mean its the end of the world?
If those Mayan were alive today they would be making a calendar for the next cycle. Now that cycle is supposed to be the last one, but the end date is 26,000 yrs away.

Since the Mayans also ran out of calender by the year 2012 who knows.
Lets hope that they were wrong or that historians and archaeologists have misinterpreted the meaning of the codex
