With gold at nearly $975 an ounce you clearly have a coin worth close to $1,500 dollars!
Do not take it to a coin dealer they will rip you off for sure.
Sell it to a gold dealer and know what gold is selling for at the time.
That sounds like a 2 1/2 Peso coin, so about $70. See here: http://lynncoins.com/MEXICO_Gold.htm
If the coin doesn't have a monetary face value, the price depends both on the real gold value, which is no doubt much less than the total weight, and its condition. If it is not in superb, mint condition, it wouldn't be worth much.
The coin in this link is considerably heavier than the one you describe (almost 1.5 troy ounces), but it fits your description otherwise. I would take the item to a local coin expert or two for an evaluation. I hope that helps.
