He definitely was. I don't have a reference, but he was. The man lived in the 16th century, correct? He would have been killed for not believing; everyone, and I mean EVERYONE believe at that age. If anything, people would question certain parts of the bible, and create their own religion (Luthurian, Calvanism, etc).
He was more known for his politics though. He used religion and politics to create his book "The Prince", which acted as a guide for nobles, or rulers for centuries after it was published. People still read it, and they just learn how to f*ck people over. He was brilliant.
machiavelli is my favorite person in history. He belived in religion but it wasnt a big part of his life He felt stongly that it should only be used if you need to gain over a group of followers because he was all about power. He said if someone needs to get support of 50,000 christians then you support that faith and benifit them. He also said religion should never interfere with the nobility. He said if there is a decision to be made that may go abainst the bible or wha ever, you still neded to go through with it to get more power....for example killing to put terror in the eyes of he subjects

Machiavelli seemed to have politics as his religion. Based on his works you can infer that we was not part of any main religion anyway.
