Despite what some people try to promote (esp in education), any trader will tell you that the markets are not efficient at all, and are driven mostly by fear and greed.
Supply and demand also play a role naturally, but not always.
You will notice that the people whom promote 'efficient markets' are never wealthy from trading. However i know a few traders whom are have gotten wealthy because they can read the inefficiencies in the market.
