So what were Biden's big gun control announcements today?  Doesn't it look like a big bund of nothing?

Biden confirmed he was putting a gun control advocate in charge of the ATF.  No surprise there.

He asked the Justice Department to see if there was anything they could do to require serial numbers on "ghost guns."  No actual action, just look into it. To explain this, the part of the gun that is considered the actual firearm, often the frame, can be sold about 80% finished and the work must be completed by the buyer, and then they also buy all the other parts and put it all together to make a functioning firearm.  Currently these do not have serial numbers, and Biden asked the Justice Department to look for a way to require one.

Lastly, Biden has asked the Justice Department to develop a guideline Red Flag law that states could copy.  This could be a good or bad thing from either point of view depending on how well they craft one.

In essence, it's all a steaming pile of nothing.

Update:

Judy and Charlie, I have a secret for you.  You know those old timey cap and ball revolvers you see in old movies?  Where you have to load the powder charge and the ball and then ram it into the chamber?  Those are perfectly legal for a felon to own too.  They can be purchased by mail order too.  FULLY FUNCTIONAL requiring no work at all!

Update 3:

At least with these "ghost guns" they are unfinished, and require further machining plus obtaining all the other parts like the slide, barrel, magazine, etc.
