last night i was half sleep and a "prince of persia" commercial came on and it was playing...
Saeglopur
i thought to my self...
now more people are going to hear this awesome band but only know them by a song from a commercial.
Anyways, MQ: Do you think this genre of music is becoming more popular?
(in the U.S.)
Update:sometime the U.S. isn't used to being open to such great music

As long as more people get to know Sigur Rós I'm happy :) And what a great first song to be introduced with. But, it's so sad that they aren't widely know in the U.S.. I think that they are slowly becoming more popular here though, as well as other post-rock music. I hope this genre continues to gain in popularity as it's my favorite. Either way, Sigur Rós are brilliant...they have been my favorite band for years and every album they release is a masterpiece...I'm glad more people are listening to them :)
I saw a TV show that had "Auto Rock" by Mogwai and "Something I Can Never Have" by NIN in the background, and this was a serious documentary. I think Sigur Ros are becoming more marketable with every album ("Hoppipolla", "Gobbledigook") and it won't be long before people discover their back catalogue and it saturates everything on TV.
yes this music (very obscure indie i mean) is getting more popular...recently i saw TV commercials using a Cloud Cult song (some auto insurance co.), Santogold song "lights out" for miller beer, Feist "1234" for apple ipods, and now your sigor rus example...
